Christian Persecution and End Time Bible Prophecy

Christian persecution is nothing new and has been an anticipated response one could expect to receive when choosing to receive Jesus Christ as Savior.
The book of Acts records the first Christian to be martyred for his faith as Stephen was stoned to death. (Acts 6:8-7:60).
Since that first martyr, it is estimated that some 70+ Million Christians worldwide have been killed for their faith; of that some 46 Million have been murdered within the last 100 years!!
The bible warns that this persecution and martyrdom would increase significantly to scales unseen and that this would be yet another sign of the end of the age...and even more in the Tribulation period.
Modern America may not be feeding Christians to hungry lions, but with Political Correctness, the use of the High Courts, and a constant array of media assaults on moral values its not hard to see that the culture is more hostile now than it ever has been...in what many view to be the last "Christian Nation" left on the planet.Do Pastors have to worry about being beaten and jailed for standing up for traditional marriage?
