Hearing God Speak
Be Still and Know!

Be Still and Know… I cry out Lord, I want to hear you! Speak to me and give me direction. The words from Psalm 46:10 come into my mind… “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” As we wait and hope in the Lord we are strengthened. (Isaiah 40:29-31)Yet if you are like me, this time of quietness in God’s presence can quickly be replaced by the activity of the day. We may feel we are too busy to take the time to be still. I have heard it said that B.U.S.Y stands for “Bound Under Satan’s Yoke”. I think this analogy is appropriate if we allow our busyness to keep us from the presence of God. I find that when I don’t take the time to be still before God I hear Him less. How can any relationship develop if time is not invested? In order to develop the relationships most dear to us time had to be invested. If we neglect to continue investing time in those relationships, the relationship becomes more distant. I hear God speak to most clearly when I consistently spend time with Him. I don’t hear him in an audible voice but through a gentle nudging on my heart or through a particular verse of scripture being brought to mind and through dreams. God desires to reveal himself to each of us. (Romans 16:25-26)He delights in you and I. (Psalm 149:4) It is my hope that each person who reads this blog today will take some time to be still before God and know that He is Lord. That He would be exalted in the nations throughout the earth.
