Fear vs. Faith
We have noticed a phenomenon among our brothers and sisters in Christ when we discuss "end time" prophecies in the bible and how prophecy in the news is being fulfilled today.
When exposed to the reality of what is happening in the world around us, and how that relates to what the scriptures tell us will happen, we’ve seen the majority of people respond with trepidation and fear.
Their countenance changes as if hope leaves with the realization that we really could be the “generation that does not pass” (Matthew 24:34).
We want to foremost emphasize that the purpose of this site is to be a source of hope, strength, encouragement and growth in knowledge of Jesus Christ.
When it comes to acknowledging that christian prophecy is being fulfilled right before our very eyes; we at LegaBoom believe this revelation should excite the believer, motivating them to mature in their walk so they can go into the world and fulfill the great commission.
We believe time is short, so the realization of Christian prophecy being fulfilled, should activate an earnest desire in you to “look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” (2 Peter 3:12).
Most importantly, we believe this revelation should bring a sense of freedom to the believer. Freedom to laydown the futile pursuits and day to day stresses of life and rest in the promises of God and put our trust in Him as we focus on our ultimate destination…His Kingdom.
The Reality of Christ’s Return
We believe the heart of the matter is that many people may not really want to own the reality that the “end game” of our faith is not just to be blessed and experience a rich life of one prosperous moment to the next.
But in fact, the bible reminds us that our chief reason for our existence is to bring glory to God and help reconcile His children to Himself.
The last 2 versus of the bible (Revelation 22:20-21) remind us of what this is all about: “He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”
We, as believers, are “the testifiers”, reminding people that Jesus IS coming soon!
Why? So that His grace, His presence, His Kingdom will be reunited in harmony with His people! Jesus wants to bring us back HOME. Back to the Garden we were banished from when our original mother and father made that fateful decision to eat the apple, reject God and give our inheritance to the devil. This IS THE POINT of our redemption…to be reunited in fullness with our God.
So as God reveals what He is doing his children should rest in the fact that He is in control. He can be trusted and know His faithfulness to protect us and care for us like a true Father would for His child.
In the book “Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy”, by J. Barton Payne, he lists 1,239 Prophecies from the Old Testament, and 578 Prophecies in the New Testment. By his count there are 1,817 Bible Prophecies that involve 8,352 Bible Verses. Doing simple math, this means that 27% of the 31,124 Bible Verses, or One Quarter of the Bible involves Prophecies.
Why would God put such an emphasis on prophecy in the bible? To warn us? Absolutely! To prepare us? For sure! To comfort us? Without a doubt! The end of something usually marks the beginning of something else…in the case of the believer, the end of this life is the beginning of Heaven and eternity in His presence!
Called to Be Watchful
In Matthew 24:42, Jesus warns us that “…you too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.” And is Mark 13:34 Jesus uses the illustration of a man going on a long trip and says “he told the gatekeeper to watch for His return.” In these examples Jesus connects “being watchful” to “His return”.
So many Christians make the mistake of misunderstanding Matthew 24:36 that no one knows the day or the hour of His return with not paying attention to the signs of His return.
Eternal Perspective and Kingdom Focus
We believe this misunderstanding of the call of Jesus to remain watchful is why the Church seems to be rendered without power. This lack of focus on looking for the return of Jesus can cause the believer to become more centered on “this life” verses "the eternal life".
A common perspective of a Christian life is one that seeks the blessings and prosperity of God and to have the perfect life now.
Some forget that this life is riddled with sin, and we have a nature that does not want God. So we look to getting through today, planning for tomorrow, and storing up for “retirement” when we can enjoy life.
While enjoying this life is completely fine and experiencing all God has created for us is well within His intent; living for this life, we believe, is not the point.
The point is Eternity, as we previously discussed. With that we believe our focus should be on the Kingdom of God. In Matthew 6:32-34 Jesus tells us to “seek first the kingdom.” By being Kingdom focused, by setting our eyes on eternity we begin to know God more personally.
Knowing God leads us to sanctification, the process of being prepared for eternity with Christ.
Maturity & Freedom
When we realize just how close the return of Jesus may be, our spirits should quicken as we realize so many of our loved ones, our friends and family members may be in peril if they have not accepted Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
Jobs, bills and houses should take a back seat as we take serious the eternal destiny of those, especially our closest loved ones, who are apart from Christ. True evangelism is demonstrated by the action of our lives.
Immature, non-fruit bearing Christians who live life in bondage are not attractive to the lost. We need to mature rapidly, focusing on knowing God’s character and focusing on becoming like Him while there is still time. If our mind is focused on God’s kingdom, Jesus can touch our hearts and change who we are.
When our hearts are after the things of God, our lives change. As we submit to these changes we see Jesus working out His plan in our lives.
We begin to see the “fruit” of our faith as we begin to display the character traits of God and bring a little more of His Kingdom here to earth. Ultimately this growth and maturity leads to freedom and joy in Christ. This attracts the lost to the Cross.
We no longer follow the “worlds” prescription for happiness which leaves us lost, disillusioned and in despair. We can now live life with joy, hope, strength, courage and freedom.
We are then free to serve God's purpose and live peacefully under His care while we are here on earth.
From Maturity to Power & Authority
In order to fulfill the great commission, and lead our loved ones and the lost who are apart from Christ Jesus, we need power that is beyond ourselves.
Paul tells us in Ephesians 1:21 that “he (Jesus) is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else – not only in this world but also in the world to come.”
As we grow into the fullness of this maturity we then can be entrusted with ALL the Power and Authority of Christ’s Kingdom.
In Luke 19 Jesus tells the parable of the “good servant” who was faithful and as a result of doing well with a little he was “entrusted” to be given more.
We believe that as we look for Jesus, seeking Him in Everything, giving our minds eye, our hearts, and our attention over to His Kingdom we receive His purposes, his character, and then are “entrusted” with more Power and Authority to accomplish the rest of the story…the complete redemption of man to God the Father.
Along with power, the believer needs the authority to execute the warrant. The warrant to arrest the devil and push back his evil kingdom from peoples lives.
Focused Faith
We can rest in God’s presence and not get caught up in the mundane day to day things of this life. We believe that’s freedom. Fear leaves when we understand who we are in Christ and how futile it is to chase things in this life.
Once we realize the seriousness of “the times” we live in and change our focus towards the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit will help us reach our loved ones and the lost with the Good News of Christ so that they may be saved and not “left behind.” However, for us to be effective and fully operate in the gifts God has given each of us we need to mature in our walk with Jesus.
He then can produce the “fruit of the Spirit” in our lives and attract others to Him. This kind of Kingdom First focus brings freedom and greater faith in God as we experience His presence and work in our lives. We grow in our knowledge of Him; which leads to growing in our trust of Him.
As we trust Him more we need not be worried or experience fear when we think of end time prophecies being fulfilled in our lifetime.
Now being on a faithful watch should excite the believer, motivating them and activating an earnest desire to “look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.” (2 Peter 3:12).
